Unicode Font Help


Windows XP and Windows Vista Users

If you are unable to read the Kannada content properly please follow the following steps,

Go to Control Panel > Select Regional and Language Options > Click on the Languages tab > Select the check box 'Install files for complex scripts and right-to-left languages (Including Thai)'



Click Apply on OK 



This will prompt you to insert XP CD. Allow the system to copy necessary files. Restart the system. Now you will be able to read the Kannada content on IE, FireFox, Safari and Opera.

Unicode support in IE browser before version 6.0 is not good. We recommend you to upgrade to at least IE 6.0 Service Packs.



Windows 98 and Windows 2000 With IE 6.0+ Users

Step 1 :

     I)   Download Lohit-Kannada.ttf font and paste in FONTS folder.

    II)   Get USP10.DLL and paste in Program files > Internet Explorer folder. Get USP10.DLL from Click Here.

Once you install the font and place the dll file as mentioned, restart the system.
Even now if you can't read Kannada content properly then you can enable indic support, follow step 2:

Step 2 :

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional Options > General 

In the "Language settings for this system" frame, check the box next to "Indic". 

 

Click on OK 

  

Install the appropriate files from the Windows 2000 CD when prompted. If prompted, reboot your computer once the files have been installed.

Unicode support in IE browser before version 6.0 is not good. We recommend you to upgrade to at least IE 6.0 Service Packs.


For Linux Operating System 

Download one of the Kannada fonts file from Kannada Fonts . fonts directory in the user's home directory. If fonts directory does not exist in the home directory, please create it. Finally run the command 'fc-cache' from the command prompt.

It is very important to restart the browser, then only you will be able to read the content in Kannada.


Mac & iPhone

Mac : Additional fonts and language kits are required for customers to view web pages in Kannada. For font download packages and detailed installation instructions visit: http://web.nickshanks.com/typography/kannada/. We recommend users to use Mac OS X 10.4 and Safari 3 to view the Unicode fonts without trouble.

iPhone : Unfortunately iPhone doesn't support any Indian Unicode fonts.
